Bio
Victoria Perry is a singer-songwriter based in Tāmaki Makaurau, Aotearoa (Auckland, New Zealand).
Her debut single release ‘Every Wish’, hit streaming services on Friday July 4th 2025, and has already gained radio airplay in both New Zealand and Australia. Empty Spaces described the track as “...a quiet reckoning with the ache of wanting things to be different. That restraint is what gives ‘Every Wish’ its weight” and described Victoria as “a songwriter capable of holding space for nuance, conflict, and quiet honesty.”
‘Every Wish’ is about the complexity of anticipatory grief. “It’s wanting someone’s suffering to be over, but at the same time, not wanting to let them go.” During her mother’s long battle with cancer, Victoria wished for some relief from the pain for both her mother and herself, then immediately wanted to take back that wish as soon as her mother died. “It was such a hard thing to process, that’s why I went to bargaining, to try and make sense of the loss and try to regain some control”.
This song wouldn’t be out of place alongside tracks by Agnes Obel, Jeff Buckley, Birdy or Regina Spektor. Victoria plans to continue to release singles in 2025, with an EP planned for 2026.
Victoria has performed in both New Zealand and the UK, and been mentored by industry pros including Frances Dickinson (worked with Lorde, Fazerdaze) and Charlotte Yates. A multifaceted artist, Victoria has a background in musical theatre, a degree in photography and Master of Fine Arts degree. This visual sensibility is evident in her songwriting work. Victoria is also part of the Les Mills Artist Program, creating music for masterclasses that are distributed around the world.
