Victoria Perry’s first single, ‘Every Wish’ has been streamed in over 30 countries, was 13th Floor’s ‘Song of the Day’, and gained positive reviews globally.
Hailed as a songwriter “capable of holding space for nuance, conflict and quiet honesty”, Empty Spaces say Victoria Perry’s heartfelt, confessional music “leaves a lasting impression”.
Based in Auckland, New Zealand, her theatrical roots and alternative influences underpin her sophomore single release, ‘Howling at the Moon’. This piano based track is an epic, emphatic summoning of ghosts from her past, juxtaposing haunting vocals with tom-heavy rock drums.
Victoria’s music often centres around themes of familial loss and searching for ways to connect to those who have moved beyond the veil. In response to stories from mourners sharing that their passed loved ones had visited them, as an apparition or in a dream, this track is a plea for signs of life beyond death.
“...lands somewhere between Agnes Obel’s restraint and Jeff Buckley’s emotional reach, unhurried, but deeply felt.”
